Baseball - Softball RulesUpdated Tuesday May 30, 2017 by Admin.
The time limit is to be enforced from the time the umpire starts the game. That will be observed as the official start time. Games that are scheduled to start at 6:00/6:30 pm cannot begin an inning after 8:00/8:30 pm. Once it is decided to start an inning, the entire inning must be completed, unless the home team is winning at the end of the top of the inning.
The batting team may not score more than seven (7) runs in any half inning, unless that team is behind in the score. Teams behind in the score may score as many runs as needed to tie, plus seven (7) runs. A hit may not be taken away from a player; for example, if six (6) runs have already scored for the batting team in their half inning, any additional runs after seven (7) that are batted in by the batter will be counted; until a dead ball is declared or the third out called. In either the “Final Inning” declared by the Umpire or the “Seventh (7th) Inning” if the Home team is behind, once the home team is ahead by one (1) run the game is concluded. The home team may score as many runs as needed to tie, plus one (1) to win. (Exception: Time limit supersedes all other rules).
A game will be terminated if one team leads by 15 runs after 3 innings or 10 runs after 5 innings.
